College Students Are Spending 10 Hours Each Day On Their Phone

A recent study showed that college students spend between 8 to 10 hours a day using a cell phone. Every day.

This does not include other devices such as tablets, computers, laptops or televisions. Students reported spending the most time texting, with an average of 94.6 minutes a day. That was followed by sending emails (48.5 minutes), checking Facebook (38.6 minutes) and using the Internet (34.4 minutes).

Additionally, 86 percent of college students regularly slept with their cell phone, tablet or laptop.

College students are spending a great number of hours in front of devices each day. With all of this exposure to screen technology, it is no wonder that sleep inconsistencies are common among college students.

The amount of blue light emitted from each of these devices that young adults are exposed to is unhealthy. Blue light can interfere with sleep, circadian rhythms and the production of melatonin.

Students looking to regulate their sleep schedule, who want to experience more energy during the day and who want to perform better on academic assignments and exams should consider the amount of blue light they are exposing themselves to each day.

One solution is to use blue light blocking glasses while using devices. In particular, BluTech Lenses block out just enough blue light so college students get the benefits, without the harmful effects of the blue light.

College students who use blue light blocking lenses can expect:

  • Less eye strain
  • Increased clarity of vision
  • Fewer headaches and migraines
  • Normal production of melatonin
  • Better academic performance and productivity
  • Less fatigue
  • Fewer instances of insomnia

Young adults are at a vulnerable stage of eye development. Taking care of their eyes and reducing digital eye strain now can make incredible differences as they get older. Serious eye damage, strain and problems can be caused during young adulthood which contributes to eye disorders and diseases later in life. College students should be protecting their eyes at every chance they get.

Blue light blocking lenses are a great way for them to protect their eyes while experiencing a boost in academic performance.
